On Nov 21 a few friends of mine and I went over to the San Jose Event Center to see Adult Swims Dethklok/Mastodon Tour. Other bands on the list were Converge and High On Fire. Any ways after being fondled by a giant black security guard we waited patiently for Converge to play. I wasn't to stoked for 2 reasons I checked some of their music out didn't like it to much and I heard the suck live. They followed through with my opinion and ended up getting booed towards the ending of their set. I enjoyed the guitarist but the singer sounded like he was saying sucks balls over and over again, I guess you dont invite such a band to a melodic death metal and stoner metal show.
High On Fire was pretty good, they didn't play long enough but still alright. Then Mastodon open'ed up with some trippy stars on the screen. They played most of their new album at the time Crack the Sky and played a view of their good songs Colony of Birchman and such. I enjoyed the weird shit in the background and well it got boring after awhile but it was a better show than the one I saw at Mayhem Fest 08 by Mastodon. The stoners still found ways to get fucked up in the pits.
I pretty much just went to the show for Dethklok do to the fact that im a hardcore Metalocalyspe fan. They played all the hit songs such as Duncan Hills Coffee, Awaken, Birthday Dethday, Murmaider and etc. It was just one big sing along and every one loved it. Even though Dethklok is a hired band, they sound amazing and Breden Small is a genius. I hope to see them again. On the way home we got lost...but well that's another story.
