The viking demi-gods which are Amon Amarth have once again come out with a album of fist pumping melodic death metal! With brutal songs such as War of the Gods, Wrath of the Norsemen, A Beast Am I, and the amazing title track Destroyer of the Universe, Surtur Rising proves to be one of the bands best albums yet. The album seems to be a lot darker and aggressive than the previous Twilight of the Thunder God. Yet it still catches the image of Amon Amarth and the world of Norse Mythology. I give this album a 9.5 out of 10! Amon Amarth will be heading out on their U.S. tour "A Evening with Amon Amarth" in April. They will be playing two sets, Surtur Rising in its entirety and then hits from their other skull crushing albums. I hope to be there to experience this jaw dropping concert. Odin has his eye on this magnificent band and I hope for more out of them in the future.
