Eluveitie Brings the Folk with Helvetios!

The amazing folk metal band Eluveitie came out with another fun and interesting album earlier this year in February. Do to lack of interest in folk metal, I feel this album was looked over by many people. NOT COOL! Especially with the epic prologue opening that has a dude with a epic Scottish sounding accent telling a tale of how music helped the Gaul survive through war. Then BLAME! My favorite song off the album Helvetios cuts in right away with a gathering wave of folk epicness. Who couldn't like a metal band that incorporates flutes, mandolins, hurdy gurdys and other strange instruments in their music? Anyways the album is on the large side with 17 songs to prance around and head bang too. The album has a great mix of heavy fast paced fun songs and slow more interesting folk songs.
The song Luxtos has chants that make me thing of Pocahontas, you know with the talking willow tree and stuff. Very different but I think its awesome. Hell the song The Uprising straight up has a battle speech in it! Anna Murphey and Kay Brem, the ladies of the band do a lot of back up singing and even have a few songs of their own, so don't expect harsh growls through the entire album. Listen to the whole album in one sitting, it feels as if you are listening to a epic story handed down from warrior to warrior through the ages. Overall if you want to listen to something epic but different, I recommend this album!  3.5 stars out of 5. If you have a chance to see them live, do it. You'll be a changed person.
